PORT TECHNOLOGY
Acoustic guitar design has not changed significantly since the pre-World War II era. For several years now, the Michael Kelly team has been working on a fresh new approach to acoustic guitars. This has culminated with the development of the new Port Technology. At the core of this innovation is an offset soundhole approach coupled with an all new bracing design. Traditional soundhole placement interrupts a potentially potent “soundboard” area located between the neck and the bridge. By relocating the soundhole, Michael Kelly was able to bring this area to life, providing a louder and more resonate overall top performance. This performance enhancement is especially evident on models with integrated electronics where the added resonance collaborates with the bridge mounted piezo for undeniably better results.

Prelude Port OM
Delivering a tone that is focused, articulate, and deep, the Prelude Port OM makes you sound great. The great tone is thanks to the right combination of classic guitar building with a touch of new tech. The slightly smaller size of the vintage OM body shape is comfortable and contributes to the instrument’s focus. Our Port Technology, with its offset soundhole delivers the added projection and bigger tone. Add to that the solid spruce top and special bracing and this guitar delivers on sound.
The Prelude Port OM also includes the side sound port feature. This hole on the top side of the guitar, directs the sound of the guitar in your direction, acting like a personal monitor. One other important upgrade is the Zero Pin bridge. This design allows you to change the strings quickly and without fumbling with those annoying plastic end-pins found on other acoustic guitars.
