At Michael Kelly we are very proud of the overall quality of our instruments. We
feel confident that we meet or exceed our competition in every way. Our focus however
is on sound and that does come first. If you look at any f-style mandolin at any price you will find what some people would consider finish flaws. Of course an f-style mandolin has far more curves and details than an a-style mandolin or a guitar. With its carved areas, full front and back binding and set-in neck construction perfection simply does not happen. We do carefully inspect each and every mandolin before shipping. You should however expect a few small imperfections in the finish. We have included a few photos here of examples of these. All are very minor and would not be considered imperfections or even worth mentioning by many customers. It is however important that you have realistic expectations about the finish. Some common examples of these spots would be unevenness where the paint meets the binding, unfinished areas below the extended fingerboard, light surface scratches, spots by the soundholes and discolored spots in the wood. If you are seeking a great sounding mandolin with first class playability and finish then we have the mandolins for you. A tremendous amount of hand crafting goes into each Michael Kelly mandolin. This makes each unique and for most buyers special. If you have any specific questions on this matter please contact us at 800-533-079 or by email at info@michaelkellyguitars.com |
